Well, Hurricane Henri turned out to be - thankfully - more like a nor’easter than a hurricane or even a tropical storm. Originally, 80-mile-per-hour winds were supposed to wreck the area as the eye passed squarely over New London. Instead, it shifted east and delivered only a bunch of rain and stiff winds, causing a few power outages here and there. Nevertheless, I’m certainly glad ORION was safely on the hard during all of it.
The storm was to reach its peak around 8:00 pm, but the worst of it was over several hours before that. So, while the wind and rain had abated and there was still daylight left, my father and I plopped ORION back in the water and I motored over to her mooring. I left her still buttoned up; I’ll get her all rigged again for sailing the next time I come up to Niantic.
